What can I say about First Fortnight – except for mind-blowing. And for someone like myself… who loves the creative approach for delivering education… I’m ashamed to say I knew nothing about it. First Fortnight is Ireland’s mental health arts festival. It has an incredible array of events happening around the country. The quality of programmes and workshops is like nothing I’ve ever seen before.
My big idea for 2018 is this – Ireland will have its first mental wellbeing explorer And I will be it.
Yes its time for the Winning Minds Movement to start moving – and what better way – than to explore Irish approaches to developing mental wellbeing. My aim is to gather and share information that will contribute to the mental wellbeing of children and young people. The Mental health summit at the Aviva was an event to remember. Riverdancing, Gunslingers, Bruce Lee & Women Winning, were all part of the show . And when you throw in top class performances, audience participation and a few laughs – you are guaranteed success.
I have a confession to make. Its about a vision that needed more energy. The vision was based on my hypothesis that there was a lack of mind education for young people. And if we equipped them with this education, it would help them develop mental strength, relieve exam stress and thus contribute towards wellbeing.
